Tankless Water Heaters: What You Need to Know

Interested in tankless water heaters as a solution for your hot water havoc in your home? Here is what you need to know. Chances are, if you are a homeowner, you have probably heard a great deal about tankless water heaters already. Having been around for nearly 100 years now, these nifty inventions have really only exploded in popularity in the past couple of decades. Find out about our Water Heater Installation Special.

Tankless Water Heaters

If you have noticed your hot water running cold quicker than usual, or if it is taking longer to heat up in the first place, you may be in the market for a new water heater. You may also be wondering if switching to a tankless water heater is worth the investment. If that’s the case, we have compiled a list of reasons you might want to consider making this switch, and what the benefits of doing so are. Let’s check them out!

WHAT?

A traditional water heater involves a tank that houses a certain amount of water that it keeps warm at all times. This requires a lot of energy. Only the amount of water held in the tank can be heated at once, which limits the supply of hot water. These water heaters can take up a lot of room, and are rather unsightly, so places to put them within your home are fairly limited.

Tankless water heaters, on the other hand, only require energy when a hot water faucet is turned on. Instead of heating a large portion of water at once, they house mechanics that heat water as it flows through the heater itself. This allows for an endless supply of hot water and almost instant access to it. In addition, they can save on space and can be installed closer to where you utilize hot water the most, which is optimal for peak hot water performance.

WHY Tankless Water Heater?

We’ve briefly mentioned some of the numerous benefits of tankless water heaters, but we figured we would expand on them a little more.

SPACE SAVING

Tankless water heaters are tremendously smaller units than traditional water heaters. This means they take up less space, and they can be installed in areas of your home other than your laundry room or utility closet. They are mounted on the walls, so there is more floor space that can be utilized underneath them. This allows you to take full advantage of all the storage areas within your home.

INSTANT HOT WATER

No more waiting for your water to heat up! Traditional water heaters can take forever to get going and pump out hot water for your dishes, bath, laundry, or more. This means endless running of your water, waiting for it to reach the right temperature. With tankless water heaters, this is not the case. Water that runs through these units is heated up instantly and sent off to wherever it is being utilized. This means that almost as soon as you turn your hot water on, it is flowing out of your faucet at the correct temperature.

ENDLESS HOT WATER

Not only does it heat water instantaneously, but it also provides an endless supply of it. Traditional water heaters can only heat as much water as they hold. While in some circumstances, that may be enough, in others, it simply won’t do. After a few hot showers, or a full bathtub. More over, our traditional water heater needs to refill and it takes time to heat that water back up to the temperature you want. With tankless water heaters, water is constantly flowing through them. Similarly, eating up as you have your hot faucets turned on. No need to worry about running out of hot water!

CUT UTILITY COSTS

Because you don’t have to run your water endlessly in order to get it to the right temperature. As a result, you will be cutting down on your overall water usage. In addition, traditional water heaters utilize more energy to heat up a large portion of water; furthermore, hold it at that temperature. Tankless water heaters only use energy as you need hot water. Therefore, cuts down on energy usage, and saves you money on your utility bills.

LASTS LONGER

Tankless water heaters also save you money in the long run because they last a lot longer than traditional units. Tankless models have a lifespan of around 20 years, as long as they are properly maintained. Traditional models typically only last around 10 years. Therefore, you are getting more for your money by going the tankless route.
